Abstract

1420869 Separator for removing droplets from gas stream BAYER AG 28 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 14861/73 Heading B1T A wire gauze 'packet' arranged in a pipeline to remove liquid droplets from gas passing therethrough is divided by baffles 8 which catch separated liquid and drain it from the packet to outlet 9. The packet may be rectangular in section and inclined (Fig. 2 not shown) to facilitate drainage sideways. It may extend vertically across pipe-section 2 or may be inclined forwards or backwards by up to 45 degrees. Baffles 8 may have drainage grooves 10 and may be provided with extensions 13 upstream and/or downstream of the packet. The packet illustrated has a peripheral frame and is slidably located in a widened portion of the pipeline provided with an access cover 6. Closable inlets may be provided for washing the packet in situ between gas-drying operations. The division of the packet enables higher gas flows without re-entrainment of separated liquid.
