Abstract

1428919 Closure assembly ALUMINUM CO OF AMERICA 15 May 1974 21559/74 Heading B8T A safety closure assembly for containers comprises an inner screw-cap 10 having knurls 20, a bead 18 which engages a flange 30 of an outer cap 24 and which abuts against a surface 32 of the cap 24 such that in order to screw or unscrew the closure, downward pressure is applied to the top of the outer cap 24 causing the knurls 20 and teeth 34, provided on the outer cap 24, to engage and hence rotation of the outer cap 24 causes rotation of the inner cap 10. The surface 32 is preferably at an angle of 10 degrees from the cap's axis. The inner edges of teeth 34 are angled inwardly in the direction away from the inner cap to accommodate varying sizes of inner cap.
