Abstract
1427666 Concrete-reinforcing elements AVI ALPENLANDISCHE VEREDELUNGS-INDUSTRIE GmbH 25 Feb 1974 [6 March 1973] 8468/74 Heading E1K A concrete-reinforcing element consists of two parallel bars 1 connected at intervals by cross-rods 3 welded between them, each bar having a series of cold-formed, transverse, e.g. inclined, ribs the height h and mutual spacing t of which are so determined in relation to the effective area and the mutual spacing A of the cross-rods that between 30% and 60% of the tearing strength of the longitudinal rods is transmitted to the concrete by the ribs situated between adjacent cross rods. This requirement is determined by cutting the reinforcing element at y and embedding the free ends of the rods between points x and y in concrete of 200-400 kg cube strength such that the first cross-rod 3 is against the outside face of the concrete block, and then pulling the element out of the concrete and measuring the tensile loading. Preferably, three angularly spaced sets of ribs 2a, 2b, 2c are formed on each bar.
