Abstract

1425712 Load-responsive brakes CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO Ltd 24 Jan 1974 [24 Jan 1973] 3582/73 Heading F2F An air brake pressure load-responsive apportioning valve comprises means in the form of a piston 12 responsive to an input signal from a drivers valve and loaded by a graduating spring 13, a follow up valve to control braking pressure and actuated by the piston 12 through a lever 16 and means for displacing the lever fulcrum 18 in accordance with vehicle load to vary the ratio of follow up valve travel to travel of piston 12 and vary the delivered output pressure for a given input signal pressure. The movements of the piston 12 are transmitted through a thrust rod 15 to the two-armed lever 16 of which the other arm 16b has operative connection with the valve formed by a hollow plunger 9 and disc member 7 which co-operates with a seating 5.
