Abstract
1423849 Photographic developers; heat processable materials EASTMAN KODAK CO 10 May 1973 [10 May 1972] 22347/73 Heading G2C A method of development in which N-hydro hydroxyurea is used as a developing agent for a photo-sensitive silver salt. The, N-hydroxyurea is present either in a developer processing composition or in the photographic material and is preferably of the following Formula in which R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are each H, alkyl (preferably 1-4C), or aryl (preferably 6-10C) e.g. phenyl, tolyl and xylyl. The alkyl and aryl groups may be substituted e.g. by halogen or amino. The N-hydroxyurea may be used in combination with other silver salt developing agents, particularly with 3-pyrazolidinone. The N-hydroxyurea may be used for developing diffusion transfer materials on heat processable materials in which it develops the photo-sensitive silver salt and also acts as a reducing agent for the heavy metal salt e.g. silver behenate, present in such materials. The heatprocessable material may also contain an activator toning agent e.g. a cyclic imide or phthalazinone.
