Abstract
1423838 Water tube boilers; tube walls for furnaces FOSTER WHEELER JOHN BROWN BOILERS Ltd 17 Sept 1973 [10 Oct 1972] 46714/72 Headings F4A and F4B In a water tube boiler in which a furnace enclosure is defined by a front wall 13, a baffle wall 18, and roof, floor, and side walls 20, 22, 14, a series of welded finned tubes 50 define the side wall 14, roof 20 and floor 22 and join upper and lower header drums (24, 26, Fig. 1, not shown), and tubes 30, 32 which are finned and welded to define the rear wall 16 also extend across the roof and floor to join the header drums; tubes 30 extending in the same plane as and are welded to tubes 50 in roof and floor, and tubes 32 extending in planes parallel to and spaced from the roof and floor tubes 50. Rear wall 16 is inclined to the side wall 14 and the baffle wall 18 and the upper surface of the floor 22 is covered with refractory material 54 in which the tubes 32 extend. Insulating material 53 is contained within an outer casing 56.
