Abstract
1423740 Electric timepieces INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 6 April 1973 [8 April 1972] 16613/73 Heading G3T An electro-mechanical transducer for a quartz watch comprises an air-cored coil 2 pivotably mounted between permanent magnetic poles 1 and biased by springs 3, 3a to a rest position so that electrical pulses applied to the coil produce displacement thereof against the springs and a driving pawl 10 fixed to the coil engages successive teeth of a ratchet wheel 8 to advance the wheel during return motion of the coil to the rest position, the axis of the ratchet wheel being aligned with but perpendicular to the pivot axis of the coil. As shown the wheel 8 is a crown wheel fixed to a shaft 17 which is supported in a bridge 9 and base plate 4. The base plate also carries a magnetic yoke 6 and bearings for pins 14,14a which form a shaft for the coil. Limits to the oscillation of the coil are set by fixed stops 13 which co-operate with a holder 7 of the pawl 10. A non-return pawl 11 is supported by the yoke 6. Over-driving of the wheel 8 is also prevented by a stop 18 which is abutted by the pawl 10. The pawls may carry pawl jewels (10a, 11a) Fig. 2a (not shown), the jewel (10a) being wedge-shaped at its driving end.
