Abstract
1423123 Mixing apparatus APAW SA 7 June 1974 [12 June 1973] 25457/74 Heading B1C Apparatus for making an ice cream shake comprises storage tanks for the ice cream and at least one syrup, and a dispensing valve therefor supplying a mixer, and means for blowing compressed air through the mixer when the supply of the ingredients has ceased. Actuation of a button 34 energises mixer motor 30, starts mixing blades 3 to deliver ice cream, opens valve 21 to permit syrup to be expelled by air pressure from tank 20, and actuates a pneumatic cylinder 9 to withdraw piston 13 from a bore 14 (see also Fig. 2, not shown). Ice cream and syrup pass through conduits 17, 16, 15 and 19, 18 respectively to bore 14, space 107, and duct 26 to the mixing chamber 27 where they are mixed by a rotor 28 and discharged from a nozzle 32. Thereafter the piston 13 is pushed into the bore 14 to obturate the ice cream and syrup delivery conduits 15, 18, the valve 21 closes, and the valve 25 of a compressed air supply opens to purge the space 107, duct 26, mixer 27 and nozzle 32. The valve 25 is thereafter closed and the motor 30 deenergised. In a modification, see Figs. 5 and 6, not shown, the syrup and ice-cream conduits 18, 15 are spaced axially of the bore 14 so that the former is closed first by the piston 13. Withdrawal of a plug 35 connects the freezer to a conduit (117, Fig. 4 not shown) which by-passes the mixer.
