Abstract
1286881 Reciprocating pumps HOLLSTEIN & FURMANN GmbH [trading as HOLLSTEIN & FURMANN GmbH KG] 18 Aug 1969 [19 Aug 1968 4 Feb 1969] 41049/69 Heading F1A An ice-cream dispenser comprises:- a housing forming a metering chamber with rigid walls including an end-wall which is stationary in use, a piston slidable in the chamber towards and away from the end-wall, an entrance port to the chamber at a location remote from the end-wall, the entrance port communicating with a source of ice-cream under pressure, an exit port proximal to the end-wall, the piston in a loading position being withdrawn from the end-wall to a position beyond the entrance port, means for reciprocating the piston between the loading position and an ejection position in which the piston is close to the normally stationary end-wall, and a valve to obstruct the exit port outside the chamber. Various embodiments are described in which the valve may be a slide valve actuated by the lever which moves the piston, a flap valve similarly actuated, a valve connected to the piston so that the outlet is opened only when the inlet is closed, or a pressureactuated valve. The end-wall may be adjustable in position, and/or the stroke of the piston may be curtailed by adjustable stops. The operation of the valve may be interrupted to allow continuous flow of ice-cream. An embodiment having two cylinders and pistons feeding a single supply nozzle is described.
