Abstract

142,268. Farnsworth, F. S. April 8, 1919. Pneumatic springs. - A pneumatic spring for a road vehicle consists of a cylindrical chamber a fitted with a rotating vane e and fixed stop f. On each side of the vane, one or more bags g of elastic or inelastic material are located, and these are inflated. The vane e may be curved so as to form depressions in the bags when of inelastic material. The vane e is mounted on a shaft and may be connected to any ordinary leaf or other spring. In a modified form, the vane e may fill the whole diameter of the chamber and limiting stops be placed at suitable positions.
