Abstract

1421180 Coated helmet FELDMUHLE ANLAGEN-UND PRODUKTIONS GmbH 14 Dec 1972 [17 Dec 1971] 57721/72 Heading B2E A helmet for protection against projectiles comprises a metal base layer having on its outer surface a plurality of metal strips spaced apart from each other and, between the strips, a layer of a hard inorganic material which has been applied by flame spraying, plasma spraying or the explosion process. The hard inorganic material may be aluminium oxide, chromium oxide, boron carbide, titanium carbide or silicon carbide and may be applied by flame spraying, plasma spraying. The metal base material may be steel alloy, alluminium alloy, e.g. with zinc and magnesium.
