Abstract

The low weight armour plate is used for protection against the impact and exothermal effects of an explosive penetrating charge. Metal bars arranged on the armour plate prevent direct impact of the explosive charge and the heat developed is absorbed by metal bars. These bars are covered with high temperature resistant coating which also ensures protection against explosive charges which exert abrasive effect for facilitating penetration. The armour plate is covered with metal bars (7, 8) which prevent direct impact of the explosive charge on the armoured plate. These bars project at right angles from the armoured plate surface which is itself flat, convex or concave. The bars are coated with pure tungsten and they have a base and a head connected by a slender neck section. The bars are spaced closely together and may have different lengths.
