Abstract
The explosive plating is for use as a protective lining to e.g. bank-vaults and is designed to explode and project fragments in response to a thermal or mechanical attack. The plating may comprise an explosive layer (3) sandwiched between isolating armour plating (4) and a layer of fragmentable material (1). The latter (1) layer may fragment and be projected under the force of the explosion, and the armour-plating (4) may be sited on the inside face of the wall. The temperature which provokes an explosion may be less than that attained by a thermal lance but greater than temperatures anticipated during a fire.
