Abstract

1420224 Photographic diffusion transfer material containing an ultraviolet absorbent POLAROID CORP 2 Jan 1973 [3 Jan 1972 24 Oct 1972] 220/73 Heading G2C A photographic diffusion transfer product for forming a composite print comprising a positive dye image viewable by reflected light against a reflecting background over a negative component comprises a photo-sensitive silver halide system, an image-receiving system comprising an imagereceiving layer and a dimensionally stable transparent layer through which the image is viewable and which contains an ultraviolet absorber which is transparent to visible light but provides an optical density of at least 1, at least between 300 and 375 mÁ, and a light-reflecting layer of lightreflecting agent or means for forming the lightreflecting layer. The ultraviolet absorber may have the Formula:- where A is an optionally substituted phenylene radical bonded by two neighbouring C atoms to two N atoms of the triazole ring and B is optionally substituted phenyl. The dimensionally stable transparent layer may contain a pigment in an amount sufficient to prevent edgewise to transmission of activating radiation to unprotected portions of the photo-sensitive system, the amount also being insufficient to prevent substantially all of the light incident on the layer from being transmitted therethrough. The amount of pigment may be sufficient to provide an optical density for said layer of at least 5 as measured on the edge of the layer at 700 mÁ over a path length of 1 inch. The pigment may be particulate carbon black. The photo-sensitive silver halide system may be associated with a dye developer. The invention also comprises a transparent plastomeric sheet material comprising a polymeric matrix material having dispersed therein a pigment in an amount sufficient to prevent edgewise transmission of light therethrough but said amount also being insufficient to prevent all of the light incident on the material from being transmitted therethrough and additionally having dispersed therein an effective amount of an ultraviolet absorber which is transparent to visible light but has an optical density of at least 1 at least between 300 and 375 mÁ.
