Abstract

1326035 Photographic colour transfer materials INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORP 31 July 1970 [31 July 1969] 2125/71 Divided out of 1326034 Heading G2C An integral colour transfer film unit yielding on exposure and development a colour print consisting of a positive colour image over a negative image and separated therefrom by a light reflecting layer, comprises a first opaque support layer, a silver halide emulsion layer containing a dye-transfer image-forming compound e.g. a dye-developer, a reflecting layer containing as relecting agent a dispersion of titanium dioxide having a particle size e.g. less than 0À2 micron which on contact with alkaline processing composition aggregates to form a dispersion having a particle size above 0À2 micron which is more effective in masking the negative image, a polymer dye-image receiving layer and a second, transparent support layer. The unit is exposed, and the finished positive colour image is viewed, through the second transparent support layer. Besides masking the negative image, the reflecting layer provides a background for the positive image. The processing composition may be contained in a rupturable container to discharge between the reflecting layer and the emulsion layer and may contain an opacifying agent, e.g. TiO 2 or carbon black to complete the masking of the negative image. The film unit may contain a plurality of emulsion layers to provide a multicolour image.
