Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photographic material for printing improved in resolution, by forming a hydrophilic colloid layer containing a white pigment and a dye on a polyolefin-coated paper support. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic colloid layer containing a white pigment, and a dye absorbing the light in the photosensitive wavelength region of a silver halide emulsion layer, and being decolored in a developing process is coated on a coated paper support by the medium of a subbing layer or without this, and silver halide emulsion layers are formed by coating them on this colloid layer. Since an amount of the white pigment in the polyolefin layer of the polyolefin-coated paper is kept small to retain the physical property of the polyolefin, the light shielding effect is not enough, and the light is scattered in the polyolefin layer, resulting in deteriorating its resolution as compared with baryta paper. Simultaneous addition of the white pigment and the dye permits exposure caused by light scattering to be prevented synergistically, and resolution to be enhanced.
