Abstract

1419026 Refractory bricks WILLIAMSON CLIFF Ltd 28 Feb 1973 9793/73 Heading F4B A refractory brick for lining a cement kiln is of trapezoidal longitudinal cross-section with the outer longer end having a recess filled with highly insulating refractory material. The brick may be made of an aluminosilicate containing from 20-85% Al 2 O 3 and may have more than one recess, each recess having reentrant sides to help retain the filler material. The latter may be brick or a settable material such as concrete, cement or mortar. It may be made from a lightweight aggregate or a fibrous material plus a cementitious bond. The aggregate may be crushed brick, kieselguhr, expanded fireclay, bubble alumina, and expanded shale, perlite or vermiculite. The fibrous material may be asbestos, fibre glass, mineral or slag wool, wire fibre or calcium silicate or aluminosilicate fibres. The cementitious material may be cement, hydraulic cement, plaster of Paris or sodium silicate.
