Abstract
A quick-setting cement mix is prepared by mixing 5-150 parts by weight of polymerizable polyvalent metal salts of acrylic and/or methacrylic acids with 100 parts of cement and adding 50-600 part of water per 100 parts of cement mix. Polymerizable salts specified are those of magnesium strontium, barium, zinc, aluminium, calcium and nickel. Cements specified are Portland, Portland blast-furnace, silica and alumina cements. The composition may include a water-soluble silicate e.g. sodium or potassium silica, an aggregate e.g. sand, clay, volcanic gravel, refractory hyalite sand, perlite, coal cinder, barite, magnetic, cyanic and in-organic fibres, and a polymerization catalyst (an extensive list is given).
