1418523 Photo-electric sensing of coloured strips LOGETRONICS Inc 31 Oct 1973 50695/73 Heading G1A [Also in Division G2] Film sheets pass through developing and fixing tanks (not shown) and a washing tank 1 and then either continue to a drying tank 2 or are diverted to a tray 36 e.g. so that litho film can be dot etched while still wet. Red or yellow strips (43), Fig. 3 (not shown) are stuck on to those sheets to be diverted. On leaving the washing tank 1, sheets pass through squeegee rollers 15, 16 and then pass a lamp 26. Light from lamp 26 passes through the film and is directed by mirrors 29, 30 on to photocells 32b, 32r through blue and red filters 31b, 31r. The output of photo-cell 32r together with the inverted output of photo-cell 32b are fed to an AND gate 47 if the sheet bears no coloured strip the inputs to the AND gate cancel. If a red or yellow strip is detected the gate receives only one input and produces a signal to energize a solenoid which shifts a guide 23 to direct the sheet through rollers 33, 34 on to tray 36. If guide 23 is not moved, the sheets pass through further squeegee rollers 17, 18 to drying tank 2.
