Abstract

1357648 Photo-electric colour printing registration monitoring SIEMENS AG 2 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970J 41087/71 Heading G1A The edges of coloured areas of a printed web in a rotary colour printing machine are monitored for colour registration by a photo-electric arrangement comprising photo-cells 10, 11, 12, 16 to which light reflected by the web is applied, the first three being made responsive to yellow, red or blue by filters 7, 8, 9, and 16 being responsive to low intensity reflection by black. Colour signals are selectable by switch 18 and white light which includes the three colours provides an output via "AND" gate 19. The system compares one such signal developed at the edge of a coloured area with another similar signal or with a roller position signal. The black signal from 16 raises the gain of amplifiers 13-15 but not to a level which would operate switch 20.
