Abstract

1528195 Measuring densities of originals AGFA-GEVAERT AG 25 Sept 1975 [25 Sept 1974] 39318/75 Heading G2A An original 1a to be printed on to sensitive material 5 is first moved through a scanning station at which light transmitted thereby passes through a slit 7a and slots 9a (or circular holes) in a rotating diaphragm disc 9 on to a photo-cell 11 so that the densities of successive sub-areas of the original are measured by the photo-cell 11, an evaluator 12 being connected to photo-cell 11 to determine the maximum and/or minimum density measured, preferably for use in a shutter control device 15. As shown detectors 13, 14 detect notches in the edge of a strip 1 of originals 1a to initiate and terminate operation of the evaluator 12 for each original 1a. A photo-electric arrangement 16, 17 may block the passage of signals to the evaluator 12 when light from the original is incident on an area of the disc 9 between two slots 9a. The strip 1 is halted at the exposure station for printing on to sensitive material 5.
