Abstract

1418269 Valves P JOURNEE 7 March 1974 [14 March 1973] 10291/74 Heading F2V In a combined vacuum and pressure relief valve for motor vehicle fuel tanks a seal 15 on a disc 13 is urged against a disc 12 rigid with a rod 8 by a spring 14. In the event of over pressure in the tank the rod 8 is urged upwardly compressing spring 14 and moving disc 12 upwardly from the seal 15. In the event of underpressure in the tank the disc 13 moves downwards compressing the spring 14 and moving the seal 15 away from the disc 12. The edge of the disc 13 is sealed by 0-ring 17. In modifications the disc 13 is frusto-conical, is stepped to provide grooves for peripheral and closure seals, and is formed as a diaphragm with a rigid backing plate, the disc 12 in this case having a depending peripheral rim.
