Abstract

1417576 Controlled non-linear inductors INDUCTOTHERM CORP 7 Nov 1972 36763/72 Heading H3X [Also in Division H1] A saturable core reactor control arrangement wherein common windings are utilized for both the alternating current and for the controlling direct current, comprises a bridge arrangement wherein the A.C. is applied to one pair of diagonal junctions and the D.C. to the other, and has a unidirectional path across the D.C. input terminals to the bridge. As shown in Fig. 3 the bridge 10<SP>11</SP> comprises winding on saturable cores 64, 70, and capacitors 72, 74, and the unidirectional path is constituted by the same diode bridge 88 which provides the D.C. source. In Fig. 1 the bridge is formed wholly from saturable core windings and a separate diode 44 shunts the D.C. source. In modifications, resistors replace the capacitors (Fig. 5, not shown), a threephase arrangement is disclosed (Fig. 4, not shown) and a variable resistor shunts the diode 44 (Fig. 6, not shown).
