Abstract

1416918 Transformer tap-changing SONY CORP 18 May 1973 [24 May 1972] 23855/73 Heading HIT Voltage selecting apparatus comprises a transformer TR having primary L1 and secondary L2 windings of which one, e.g. L1, comprises at least two separate windings L11, L12 &c. having end terminals and at least one tap t1 to t6; a terminal board 1 having fixed terminals T1 to T6 each connected to a transformer terminal; and a member 2 rotatably mounted on the terminal board 1 and carrying at least two bridging members S1 (and S2, Fig. 8A, not shown) for selectively interconnecting the board terminals T1 to T6 so as to produce a predetermined constant output voltage from the transformer for different ones of a range of input voltages. Preferably the fixed terminals T1 to T6 are arranged on two coaxial circles, a first bridging member S1 contacting a terminal on a first circle and a second bridging member (S2) interconnecting two of the terminals on the second circle. The bridging members S1, S2 are disposed in recesses 2a, 2b in the rotary member 2, and the fixed terminals T1 to T6 are mounted in a circular recess 1A in the terminal board 1, in which the rotary member is held captive by a metal cover (3, Fig. 2, not shown) fastened to the board 1 by bent-over tangs 3h shown in Fig. 1 on the underside of the board 1. A ball (Bo, Fig. 8C, not shown) urged axially outwards by a spring (SP) in a recess 2c of the rotary member 2 so as to engage one of a plurality of slits 3d-3g in the cover 3, provides positive location of the rotary member 2 in any selected position. A groove 2d in the face of the rotary member 2 facilitates rotation by engagement of a tool or coin.
