Abstract

1416859 Hydraulic pumps or motors D FIRTH K FOSTER and C J HOOKE 9 Nov 1972 [19 Oct 1971 4 Aug 1972] 48604/71 and 36447/72 Headings F1A and F1P A reciprocatable device comprises an outer member 112, an inner member 114 reciprocable relative to the outer member 112, a resilient member 116 connecting the members 112, 114 together, the resilient member having an average thickness in a direction normal to the axial direction not greater than the average length of the resilient member in the axial direction, and a piston 120 slidable in the end 122 of the outer member and defining therewith a chamber 126 for fluid, especially liquid. In operation the inner member 114 is either reciprocated by the piston 120 due to the application of a pulsating pressure to the chamber 126 or is reciprocated to change the pressure in the chamber 126 for use in pumping.
