Abstract
1416759 Finishing yarns MONSANTO CO 26 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972] 49918/73 Heading D1F A process of interlacing the filaments of a continuous multifilament yarn bundle comprises forwarding the bundle, which may have been drawn, at a given speed e.g. 10-5000 yards per minute, in a given direction at a tension of 0.01-1.0 grams per denier, imparting to the bundle in the absence of heatsetting conditions a unidirectional false-twist of at least 5 turns per inch by frictional contact with a surface moving transversely to the given direction, and then removing the false-twist. A member providing the surface may be positively driven independently of, or by the running bundle. Conventional forms of frictional false-twister which may be used include twisting bushes, single or multiple rotating (overlapping) discs or wheels or flanges, travelling belts, and roll(s) with concave annular surfaces, Figs. 2-8 (not shown).
