Abstract

1415456 Roller press H LIEBERT 4 May 1973 [4 May 1972] 21377/73 Heading B5A A roller press for compacting, pelletizing or briquetting pulverulent, fine-grain or structurally voluminous products comprises a pair of horizontal, driven, compacting rollers 5 journalled at one or both of their ends in cradles 4 pivoted via bearings 3 to a press frame 1 provided at each journalled end of the rollers 5, the roller nip being adjusted by a linkage 9, 6 provided on the or each frame 1. The latter may have an inverted T-shape with the vertical leg thereof carrying a cylinder therein or thereon in which the rod 9 of the linkage may act as a piston. The piston/cylinder may comprise an hydraulic or an hydraulic-pneumatic unit with the pneumatic circuit thereof providing overload protection. The links 6 of the linkage may be constructed with pins or hooks at their outer ends for releasably engaging slots in the cradles 4. The rollers 5 may be removed after releasing the links 6, pivoting the cradles to lie horizontal, removing bushes 12 and disengaging the drive from the rollers 5 (Fig. 3).
