Abstract

1401949 Container pick-up and tipping trailer M COFFEY and R A WAYTE 1 March 1974 [2 March 1973] 9424/74 Headings B8E and B8Q A trailer 2 for picking up, transporting and tipping a container 1 has a base framework with side members 5 connected at the front only and a container support frame having a front frame 7 connecting two side frames 8. Plates 9 are each pivoted at 11 to a rear support plate 10 pivoted at a mid point 11 to a side member 5 and at 13 to a ram 14. Front support plates 22 are pivoted at 23 to side members 5 and by rollers 24 engage jaws 25 on the side frames 8. The trailer is supported on bogies 30 having wheels 29 placed under the base framework. Toggle links 16, 17 connect the plate 21 to a plate 20 and their pivotal connection is acted on by a ram 26. In use with the container 1 on the ground the trailer is backed to bring the sides under the rails 4 and then actuation of both rams 14, 26 raises the container in a horizontal position to the state shown for transportation. Further actuation of the ram 26 causes the frames 8 to tip about the pivot 11 as the link 17 engages a stop 28 the roller 24 disengaging from the jaws 25.
