1459360 Vehicle transporters SOC NOUVELLE DES ATELIERS DE VENISSIEUX 19 March 1975 [30 April 1974] 11515/75 Headings B7B and B7L A road or rail vehicle transporter includes a pair of articulated frames each having a fixed platform 5 overhanging end wheels 1, foldable elements 10 hinged at opposite sides of the frame and movable between a vertical folded position and a horizontal unfolded position in which they form an extension of platform 5, rollways 7 at each side of the frame formed by extensions of platform 5, a central ditch 8 between and below the rollways and crossbeams 20 releasably mountable on opposed pairs of elements 10 when vertically arranged. Vehicles may be arranged on platform 5 and its extension formed by elements 10 or may be transported in an inclined overlapped arrangement wherein the front wheels are mounted on crossbeams 20 and the wheels in rollways 7 (Fig. 9, not shown). Elements 10 hinged at 11 to the frame are hingedly foldable about axis 12 and carry jacks (13) (Fig. 4, not shown) which engage the ditch 8 to support the elements when unfolded. The crossbeams 20 include spaced front and rear members (Figs. 7, 8, not shown) between which a wheel may be seated and have means for releasably mounting and clamping on the vertically arranged elements 10. To arrange the vehicles in the inclined overlapped condition a vehicle is driven on to the runway and its front wheels engaged with a crossbeam which is then lifted and seated on the opposed elements 10. In use all the vehicles may be arranged in the inclined overlapped state or may be supported on the surface provided by the platform 5 and unfolded elements 10 or the support arrangements may be mixed.
