Abstract

1406121 Grippers; straddle carriers BOFORS AB 12 Jan 1973 [14 Jan 1972] 1840/73 Heading B8H Straddle carrier has a vertically movable frame 1 to which are pivotally mounted a series of pairs of gripping arms 5 actuated by hydraulic rams 8 to engage and lift a load 7 to be transported. A series of pair of support arms 9 are also mounted on the frame, for extraction by hydraulic rams 10, to be inserted beneath a load, once lifted, to support same during the transportation thereof, when the grippers have been released. A device (not shown) in the driver's cab indicates the relative position of the arms and the load.
