Abstract

1,251,179. Compression moulding machine. SHIONOGI & CO. Ltd. 11 June, 1970 [12 June, 1969], No. 28296/70. Heading B5A. A rotary compression moulding machine includes a circular structure rotatably mounted around a vertical axis of a stationary frame, the structure comprising upper and lower punch blocks 51, 53, and an interposed die block 52, each carrying punches 201, 301 and die cavities 401 respectively around their circumference, at least one pair of upper and lower compression rollers 61, 62 which exert pressure on the punches as the structure rotates, and an auxiliary roller 201a or 301a on each punch associated with rails 121-124 whereby pressure is exerted on the punches both before and after the major pressure is applied by the compression rollers. The rails 121-124, which are resiliently mounted on abutments, not shown, associated with rails 7 and overriders 81, 82 supported on the stationary frame of the machine which govern the positions of the punches during the filling of the dies at 8 with powdered material and the discharge of the compressed products 10 from the dies and their removal from the die block by a deflector 11.
