Abstract

141,382. Crane, R. T. June 4, 1917, [Convention date]. Occupants, retaining; bedclothes, securing in position.-In a berth, bed, &c., one or both sides of the mattress frame are longitudinally hinged to the central section, so that the sides may be inclined and held in such position, to prevent the occupant of the bed from rolling out as a result of excessive rolling of the ship. As shown in Fig. 4, the mattress-supporting frames carry uprights 21, 22 hinged together in the plane of the top of the mattress sections 10, 11 when such sections are horizontal, links 24 holding the sections 11 in an inclined position when desired. The bedclothes may be secured in position at the sides of the bed by means of cords 25.
