Abstract
1413394 Spray producers AIR INDUSTRIE 11 May 1973 [26 May 1972 1 Feb 1973] 22683/73 Heading B2F A powder-spraying nozzle for producing a flat fan-like jet comprises a body 1 having an inlet 3, Fig. 4, for a mixture of powder and carrier gas, and a plurality of separate passages 7 to 12, Fig. 2 formed in the body and extending from the inlet in the direction of emission of the jet, each of the separate passages having a suction device, for controlling the distribution of the mixture from the inlet to its respective passage. The nozzle is preferably of the electrostatic type with the inlet 3 being formed as an electrically-conductive ring. The suction devices are in the form of venturi constrictions, the passages being flared and having high-pressure auxiliary gas injected through inlets 19 and. 20. The nozzle is provided with two further charging electrodes 4 and 5, and these may each be disposed in a channel (210), Figure 8 (not shown), connected to the supply of auxiliary gas, to provide in use a jet of gas flowing over the electrode to prevent the deposition of powder thereon. The nozzle is preferably of plastics material and the discharge orifices may be set back in a discharge slit of the nozzle (not shown).
