Abstract

1412964 Centrifugal pumps LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 Feb 1973 [10 March 1972] 11184/72 Headings F1C C1E C4A2 and C4F In an aircraft fuel tank 10, a centrifugal pump 11 including a pair of frusto-conical elements 13, 14 on its rotor 12 to separate an air/vapour cone formed in the pump from the liquid fuel outlet 15 of the pump, is arranged with the outlet 16 for the air/vapour connected to a passage 17 forming a grid system 18 adjacent the tank bottom and with perforations 19 to allow escape of the air/vapour. The vapour is reabsorbed into the fuel, and the air bubbles entrain air dissolved in the fuel. A vent valve 21, allows escape of air and vapour from the tank.
