Abstract
1411314 Separating straw within combines DEERE & CO 17 July 1973 [17 July 1972] 34001/73 Heading A1F A combine harvester comprises an upper long-straw shaker 14, a short-straw separator arranged at least partially directly below the upper long-straw shaker, and a long-straw loosening and pick-up device comprising rotating tines 16 which pick up the long straw and feed it over the device either back to a later stage 4 of the upper straw shaker, Fig 1, or to a separate straw separating machanism, Fig 2. The shorter straw, not picked up by the tines 16 drops onto the short-straw separator which may be a straw shaker 38 or an air current separator. The short straw falls via apertures 32, Fig 1, in shaker stage 6 or via a gap 42, Fig 21 between the end of the shaker and the device. Fig 1 includes a tray 36 which discharges the shorter straw and grain from stage 4 to the straw shaker 38 via end 34. The tines 16 move in slots in a casing 20 and are retractable during their transit Fig 2 includes a straw guiding drum 26.
