Abstract

1410041 Injection moulding battery terminals CAMELEC Ltd 12 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47219/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division H2] Injection moulding die parts 37, 38 have detachable members 51, 52, entered into groove 48, on both sides of inserts 49, in order to mould a resilient plastics casing around an electrical connector, which is designed to fit a frusto-conical terminal post of the kind used on vehicle batteries. During moulding, spigots 39, 44, locate and support a metal connector body 11, of gapped annular form, and inserts 49 partly fill the gap in the annulus. An attached cable 15 has a plastics sheath 17, which is protectively held by recesses 42 in water-cooled blocks 41. The slotted configurations of die members 51, 52, provide three moulded leverage lugs 32, 34, interleaved and projecting in opposing directions. A suggested resilient moulding material is a thermoplastic glass-fibre filled polyester resin, and heating elements 60 may be used to heat the die.
