Abstract

1408469 Halogen incandescent lamp PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1973 [22 April 1972] 18963/73 Heading H1F A halogen incandescent lamp contains an inert gas together with phosphorus tribromide or phosphorus and bromine produced by the decomposition of phosphorus tribromide in the lamp. A series of lamps 1 to 7 are exhausted through tap 12 flushed out a number of tunes by a mixture of N 2 and H 2 introduced through 13 and filled with PBr 3 from reservoir 8 in bath 9 through tap 10. Argon is introduced through tap 14 and the lamps are immersed in liquid nitrogen prior to sealing off. On-operation the PBr 3 in the lamps decomposes.
