Abstract
1356893 Tungsten-halogen lamp THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 Oct 1972 48064/72 Heading H1F A tungsten-halogen cycle incandescent lamp has a fill including phosphorus and iodine, at least part of the iodine being provided by thermal dissociation of P 2 I 4 within the lamp. The phosphorus iodide may be introduced into the lamp envelope as a benzene or toluene solution and the solvent removed by flushing with dry nitrogen. The phosphorus formed on dissociation acts as a getter. The lamp may contain CHI 3 and another halogen.
