Abstract

1408177 Packaging materials JAPAN SYNTHETIC RUBBER CO Ltd 13 Nov 1972 [12 Nov 1971] 52358/72 Heading C3P Packaging materials in film or sheet form comprise (A) 100-5 wt. per cent of a polybutadiene having at least 70% 1,2-units and a crystallinity (defined) of at least 10%, and (B) 0-95 wt. per cent of at least one thermoplastic resin capable of forming a film or sheet, the total of (A) and (B) being 100%. The materials are especially useful for packaging foodstuffs, e.g. meat, vegetables, fruit, crabs and lobsters. In Example 7, a film formed wholly from 1,2-polybutadiene is used to wrap meat. In Example 8, ABS resin pellets are stored in bags made from 1,2-polybutadiene film. Other examples illustrate properties of films and sheets made from 1,2-polybutadiene and from mixtures thereof with polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS resin and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.
