Abstract

The plastics films contain >80, pref. >90 wt. % of a polyethylene of density 0.94, or an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, to which are added 0.5-5, pref. 1-3 wt. %, based on the plastics material, of a wetting agent which is the condensation product of an epoxide and long chain aliphatic cpds. having an amide, amine or reactive acid functional group, or the product of a polyalcohol- or polyaminoalcohol-ester and aliphatic acids which are 70, pref. 50% esterified. The products pref. also contain up to 10 wt. %, based on the plastics material, of a fine silica or aluminium hydroxide powder. The films are used in agriculture, to cover crops, e.g., asparatus. Crops can be viewed easily since the sheets do not cloud over with condensation.
