Abstract

1407735 Wells &c GRAY TOOL CO 21 May 1973 [6 Sept 1972] 24187/73 Heading E1F A hanger 10 for production tubing comprises a tubular barrel 14 an enlarged portion 12 intermediate the ends of the hanger, a passage 24 in the portion, and a slot 34 connecting the passage to the, periphery of the portion. The production tubing 42 is connected to the hanger and to a downhole safety valve, a control line 36 extending from the valve initially being held in tension by a clamp 44 which is removed after the line is gripped by slips 62 in a nipple 46. The nipple is plugged and the hanger supporting the tubing and line is lowered until the portion 12 seats in a tubing head 78. A similar hanger 82 supporting tubing and line is then run into the tubing head with packing 86, and packing 122 is fitted. A Christmas tree is fitted to the tubing head, the tree urging parts 38 of the barrels. In a modification the packing 86 is formed in two parts, one for each hanger.
