Abstract

1406782 Surge diverters ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 16 March 1973 [17 March 1972] 12764/73 Heading H2H A surge diverter comprises a housing 7, voltage grading rings 13 between which are connected capacitors 14 and a tube 9 of electrically insulating material, the rings being positioned around the tube and attached to it. The tube 9, which is made of glass fibrereinforced polyester or porcelain, contains air, an electro-negative gas or insulating liquid and is provided with sealing lids 10, 11 and a pressure relief valve 12. The housing 7, which is made of iron, is filled with insulating gas or liquid. In a modification the tube 9 is double walled and the vertical spacing of the rings increases towards the bottom of the diverter. Series connected spark gaps and non-linear resistors are positioned in the tube.
