Abstract
1,178,009. Spark gaps. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. 16 May, 1967 [17 May, 1966], No. 22674/67. Heading H1D. A switch installation is designed to contain a gas under pressure and encloses a spark gap comprising electrodes 1 enclosed by an electrically insulating container 2 with pressure-equalization aperture 6. The enclosure may be filled with insulating gas SF 6 at super-atmospheric pressure. The electrodes may be slug connected to bolt 5 screwed to earthed housing 3. Iron core 4 may provide an indication of breakdown and series resistance 7 serve to limit the current.
