Abstract
The connection between a conductor in a metal envelope insulated by an inert gas and an oil-filled transformer is achieved by an oil-filled intermediate chamber. If the gas enters this chamber then its presence is detected by a manometer in a small external chamber. The polluted oil can then be replaced by a valve system. The intermediate chamber of the connection device is also fitted with a protective shield against corona effects to prevent loss of current by leakage.
