Abstract

1363219 Capacitors FRAUPACH 23 March 1973 [24 March 1972] 14126/73 Heading H1M A capacitor suitable, e.g. for dissipation factor measurement or transducer calibration, comprises a high voltage electrode 6 and a low voltage electrode 5 within insulating shell 1 (Fig. 1), the gas-tight chamber between electrodes 5 and 6 being filled with gas at a higher pressure than that in the chamber between high voltage, electrode 6 and shell 1. The gas may be sulphur hexafluoride or nitrogen at a pressure between 1 and 10 atmospheres in the chamber between electrodes 5 and 6. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2), high voltage electrode 25 and low voltage electrode 26 are surrounded by auxiliary electrode 29, and the chamber defined between electrodes 25, 26 and 29 and the gas-tight sealing arrangement is filled with gas at a higher pressure than that in the chamber formed between electrode 29 and shell 21. As shown, both electrode 29 and shell 21 are in two parts 30, 31 and 38, 39, respectively, abutting rims of eleþ- trode parts 30, 31 being held together by abutting surfaces of shell parts 38, 39 and secured by screws 43 at intervals around the circumference.
