Abstract
1405438 Partition UNITED STATES GYPSUM CO 23 Aug 1972 39256/72 Heading E1W A cavity wall comprises studs 50 having oppositely facing channels receiving the vertical edges of adjacent co-planar panels 30, the upper and lower edges of the studs and panels being located in channel-sectioned ceiling and floor framing members 24, and a further set of panels 70 secured to the studs so as to be spaced from, and parallel to, the panels 30 with the panels 70 lying outside the channels 24. Corners of the wall are formed using either studs 100 or E-sectioned studs. The studs 50 may, as shown, have a rectangular boxshaped part or, Fig. 8 (not shown) a triangular box-shaped part. The channels may have rounded corners. Alternatively, the studs may be of I-section with an additional flange located centrally of the web. The flanges on the studs may engage kerfs in the edges of panels 30.
