Abstract

1404767 Supporting and driving open end spinning rotors PLATT SACO LOWELL LTD 4 Dec 1972 [7 Dec 1971] 56822/71 Heading DID [Also in Division F2] The shaft 2 which supports an open-end spinning rotor (1) Fig 1 (not shown) is held in a fixed journal bearing 3 and is driven by a driving roller 7. Further driving rollers 8, 9 and 10 are provided together with a further journal bearing 4 which may also constitute a thrust bearing. The driving rollers may be driven by a belt 11 which contacts their shafts 5 and 6, or the shafts 5 and/or 6 may carry the rotor of an electric motor. The bearings may be air bearings. Alternative arrangements are illustrated in Figs 3, 4 and 5 (not shown).
