Abstract

1404456 Boots &c BRITISH BATA SHOE CO Ltd 2 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 55123/71 Heading A3B An article of footwear, such as a golf shoe, has a foam rubber or foam plastics sole 2 in which is enveloped a skeletal insert 4 of non-foamed rubber or plastics. Insert 4 has portions 7, adapted to retain ground engaging projections 5, connected together by a lattice-work structure 8. As shown, the projections 5 have disc-like heads 10 which are moulded into insert 4. Alternatively screwthreaded anchorages may be moulded in the insert. Two inserts such as 4 may be provided; one above the other and joined by vertical posts. Projections 5 are received in the lower insert only. Both the sole 2 and the insert 4 may be made of polyurethane.
