1537107 Soles DR ING FUNCK KG 6 Aug 1976 [6 Aug 1975] 32942/76 Heading A3B A sole unit comprises a relatively thick ball portion 3 tapering to a relatively thin heel portion 2 and is characterised in that the ball portion is formed by an upwardly opening cavity 4 wherein a core 5 of foamed material is received. The sole may comprise a basic envelope structure of injection moulded P.V.C. defining a cavity 4; the forward and lateral peripheries of which are undercut 9 to retain a latex foam core 5 and provide an increased upper margin 10. Preferably the cavity is lined with a barrier layer 11, e.g. of polyamide foil, to isolate the structure and core materials.
