1403722 Producing sound track on photographic silver halide film AGFA-GEVAERT 21 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971]55093/71 Headings G2E and G2C A sound track is produced on a photographic silver halide reversal colour film in a process wherein after bleaching the silver contained in the colourdeveloped material only the sound track area of the material is treated with a redeveloper composition comprising a developing agent and an organic heterocyclic fog-inhibiting compound containing in a 5-or 6-membered hetercyclic ring a structural part corresponding to one of the tautomeric structural groups optionally in salt form; comprising (1) imagewise exposing, (2) simultaneously or subsequently to (1) exposing the film in its area intended for the sound track through a negative sould track original, (3) black and white developing to produce negative silver images in the picture areas and a positive sound track record in the sound track area, (4) treating the sound track area with a fixing composition, (5) reexposing to visible light, the re-exposure being performed after step (3) or (4), provided that if the re-exposure is effected before step (4) only the picture areas are exposed, (6) washing to remove the complexed silver halide of the sound track area and leaving the non-developed silver halide of the picture areas unaffected, (7) colour developing, (8) treating the colour developed film with one or more substances that reoxidize the developed silver to bleach the silver of the picture as well as of the sound track areas, (9) removing the surplus of the bleaching substances and their water soluble reaction products by rinsing and drying, (10) subjecting only the sound track area to redevelopment with a developer solution comprising a developing agent with the organic heterocyclic fog-inhibiting compound as hereinbefore setforth and (11) rinsing the film and removing silver compounds obtained in the bleaching step from the picture areas by a fixing treatment with a complexing agent, and removing the surplus of redeveloper by washing. Between steps (7) and (8) the film may be (a) rinsed and (b) overall fixed. The fog inhibiting compound may be 3- amino-#2-1, 2, 4-trazoline-5-thione (EX 1), #2- 1, 2, 4-triazoline-5-thione (Ex 2 and 5), 4, 6- dimethyl-1, 2-dihydro-pyrimudine-2-thione (Ex 3) 5-amino-#4-1, 3, 4-thiadiazoline-2-thione (Ex 3) 4) or 3-amino-#2-1, 2, 4-triazoline-5-thione (Ex 6). The redeveloper solution may contain a polymer. The transparency of the highlights is improved by redevelopment.
